The Kentridge Robotics Club is in its second year of competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Each season, we have to design, build, program, and test a robot before a six week deadline. This year’s competition is called Rebound Rumble, a game in which alliances of three robots play basketball against each other. Every day after school, and on the weekends, we meet in Mr. Watson’s room to discuss game strategies and learn to apply the necessary skills required to build our robot. Those of us in the Robotics Club get to experience how math, science, and engineering are applied in a real work environment. From designing the robot, welding components together, and to writing software code, we get exposed to a broad variety of new experiences.
